Rules of composition

1) Rule of thirds- important things along the line, pictures of people should look/act at the open third.
this follows the rule of thirds because the butterfly is along the line of focus.

2)Balance- subjects balanced out across the picture.

the stick and city balance etcher out.
3)lines- the literal or imaginary lines in a photo.
the lines from the house and the window create natural lines.
4)symmetry and patters- both sides of the photo are very symmilar, not perfectly symmetrical.
this picture has symmetry because the trees are symmetrical, and the wooden posts are.
5)POV- where you take the picture from, shows importance or the story.
it tells a story with the way the photo was taken
6)background/foreground- content of the background or floor.

the focus is on the flower but the mountains are just as important .
7)depth- making a 2D photo seem 3D.

this perspective makes the photo look very deep.
8)framing- draws your eyes to the subject naturally.
the window frame frames the trees and lake naturally.

9)cropping- crop a photo where a small subject would be lost is now the main point, get up close.

this photo was cropped in on the pencil tips so you can see all the detail, which you wouldn't have seen before.

10)break the rules- the rules of composition are not a necessity, they are a guideline but break the rules with a purpose.

Favorite First Photo

This is my favorite photo because of the texture of the rocks, the ridged feel of the baseball and the way it looks in the ring. Also the lighting bouncing off of everything.

Welcome to my blog!

I'm craving food.
I like this picture because of the way the leaves look in the light. The woman in this photo looks almost porcelain and very dainty.
I like this photo because of how simple it is. And although its simple there's a lot of feeling behind it and a lot of details.
